Before anything else, rest in peace to Christopher Lee and Magnus Härenstam. Congrats to prince Carl Philip for finally getting married.
With that out of the way, I saw Jurassic world today.
I don't really have a relationship with Jurassic park as a whole. I've only seen each movie once plus the Nostalgia critic reviews. The first thing I saw from Jurassic park I saw was the shot of the T-rex eating a guy whole, and none of the movies made THAT much of an impression on me. Though I've helped immortalize the main John Williams theme in Sas-K. YTMND does that to you.
Guess you could call my relation with this little film series very casual. Heck, the only game I played was the awful SNES one, very briefly. I understand why Jurassic park was groundbreaking in its CG and I agree that The lost world and Jurassic park 3 sucked. If I was to watch Jurassic park again, I think I'd like it. It has aged well, and most of its fault in character and story were pretty relevant then as now. Only difference is that we don't gawk at its effects anymore. It certainly got the CG ball rolling. Its impact is eternal, but it's not timeless.
Which brings us to Jurassic park 4, i.e. Jurassic world. Darn decent name, actually. Even if it could be confused with The lost world.
To be honest, I found this movie pretty darn enjoyable. It might be as good as the original. Possibly better.
The effects are good, most of the acting is above average, the fear and terror feels genuine, the "park" is pretty believable in its design, the humans are surprisingly good, the action is really good, it's suspenseful, it's pretty much the true Jurassic park 2. Pretty much the only worthy sequel.
What's lame is the villain, the superdinosaur and its abilities (it's also boring and bland in design, but better than the one from 3), how the humans never learn, and possibly the fact that almost no characters from the previous flicks return. There's small stuff scattered throughout, but nothing major. They reused good and bad stuff from the past movies, but a lot of it never feels like it was done in bad taste. It's obvious they deliberately did a lot of the stuff to make it feel like a flick from the early 90s. Yes, we've seen most of the stuff before, but they try to up the ante by being more over-the-top.
Not gonna get into spoilers, but there's a lot of fist pumpingly awesome stuff, like in the original. It's completely silly, but so well done that it doesn't matter. Also, I hope you're not a fan of gruesome deaths, because a lot of the violence is off-screen or have little blood in it. A lot of crazy stuff, though. Trust me.
Movies like this is where the true antagonist AND protagonist is the effects. You don't go into a movie like this for an intriguing drama. It's not Citizen Kane by any means, and it's not supposed to be. Still, the human characters are actually not that bad and we end up actually caring about the cast. It's well done for what it's worth. They never feel like a distraction from the effects, this case being the dinosaurs. The movie still delivers on both humans and what we came for, unlike the new Godzilla which didn't deliver until the end. I was actually a bit surprised. The villain is lame, but he was designed to be.
Also, the intelligence and abilities of the hypersaur depends entirely on the scene. Then again, this is one of those classic adventure flicks where you leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the visual medium. Not gonna get into the science of this place, far too done.
Let's say the movies or the books Jurassic park didn't exist. Would you go visit a zoo with actual dinosaurs?
Anyway, the movie is stupid but awesome, just like the original. What truly sets it appart is the details to this world and the characters we're not supposed to care about but kinda do anyway. That, and how over-the-top it is. It combines horror, action, monster flick, drama and comedy, like Jurassic park. You've seen it before, but you'll LOVE seeing it again. Worthy sequel in every sense of the word. Recommended! 7/10
Also, there was an event where Sakurai (in his unholy english dubbed form WHY THE HELL IS THIS STILL A THING GAWDS LOOK YOU MADE ME GO SEVERA) announced Roy and Ryu as DLC for Smash. Which was already leaked because that patch hit Japan yesterday. There was also mii costumes from Megaman X, battle network, Splatoon, Virtua fighter, and Heihachi. Why not release the latter as an actual character is a mystery to me. There's also a few stages, like Dreamland 64 and Ryu's stage. Which I know is gonna have Guile's theme but they held back on it. You'll also be able to upload replays to youtube in the future. Lastly, there's a miiverse stage. However, I'm broke as a joke, so I'll wait for now. Will get the miiverse stage because it's free. Indifferent to Roy, but Ryu's inclusion was great. Gives hope for even more DLC. Splatoon deserves a stage, at the very least.
Next time: more Sas-K light novels. Unless something comes up.

Breath of fire 4 is still great!
It's been over 20 years, and this game holds up in just about every department except the 3D. Let me start from the beginning. Personally, I only played 3 and 2 back when they were still relatively new. Don't think I tried out 4 until like 6 years ago or so. While I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, it's definitely overlooked. I'm reluctant to talk about the story since it's one of the game's strong points. It has few good twists and turns and is one of the earlier examples of a sympathetic villain. It even has a twist that I did not see coming, though maybe a bit obvious in hindsight is still the right amount of dark and messed up. Let's look at the bad stuff. It takes forever to really get going. You begin with Nina and Cray in a desert, they flee from the sand dragon, come across Ryu, and then the story very slowly develop. And I do mean slowly. Originally, I didn't really get into the game due to its slow start and I kinda quit after a while. Glad I gave it another shot later.
The resurgence of Silent hill and Konami
Remember #FucKonami and how it was ok to hate them for nearly 10 years? Why should the announcement of a remake of Silent hill 2 undo that? It's not like they apologized or have made up for their mistakes. Hell, the remake is seemingly not even gonna be developed by them but a different company that happened to want to remake one of their classic games! Do not give shitty publishers even a cent, and most importantly, not a minute of your time.
Thoughts on every Ladybug season 5 episode!
Season 1: Season 2: Season 3: Season 4: Season 5: WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD!!! Though I'll try to keep them brief. Evolution Another great start to a season! Pretty much exactly what I wanted and more. Unlike season 2, here we begin with Gabriel losing. Good contrast. While it makes sense that he'd start with the bunny miraculous, time travel episodes tend to be a bit iffy. However, this was done pretty well, since the reason Gabriel lost was because he was only thinking about beating Ladybug and not actually bothering to change his life for the better. It's also the first time we see his wife other than a picture/archive footage/in coma. Multiplication Not sure why they jump around time wise. For example, there's a later episode with the scene where Adrien tells Gabriel that he doesn't want to do modeling anymore, and the next episode shows just what the hell happened in the midst of this one. The hell are those rings? Stay tuned! Lame. Anyway, this episode is
Cult of the lamb is the best roguelike yet
Not that I've tried a shitton of them, but it's my two cents on it. For people who suck at video games like me, it's nice that it's a lot more forgiving (especially late game) and had a good simulation aspect. Very recommended, but you've probably already tried it already.

Sad to hear about Christopher Lee, but I suppose he was pretty darn old and had a pretty full life in the end so I guess it's not so bad. Still...never experienced a celebrity who I liked dying while I knew who they were before last year and this is the second year in a row..aww shit lol. Also thanks to you whenever I hear the Jurassic Park theme I'll always think of Itachi trying to get past the censors like some naughty Nickelodeon cartoon character from the 90s lol.
